Unlimited eSIMs: fair use, throttling and hotspot limits
"Unlimited" usually comes with a speed policy and a hotspot cap. Check both.

Most country plans in our data are sold as unlimited. That rarely means unlimited at full speed for everything: there's usually a fair-use policy, and sharing data with other devices is often capped.
Fair use and throttling
Holafly says operators may temporarily reduce speed under a fair-usage policy for up to one day, after which speed returns to normal. Airalo's country pages we checked didn't describe the policy behind their unlimited packages — that doesn't mean there isn't one, just that we can't tell you what it is.
Hotspot limits
Holafly documents 1 GB per day of hotspot sharing, so a 7-day plan allows 7 GB in total. If you need to work from a laptop all day, that cap matters more than the "unlimited" label.
Our plan cards mark hotspot as "Not documented" when the provider doesn't state a policy. Ask the provider before relying on it.
When fixed data is the better deal
Light users often pay for unlimited they don't use. In Austria, where fixed-data packages were listed, a 5 GB package for 7 days cost a fraction of a 7-day unlimited plan. Use the data calculator to check what you need.
